Galactic star formation with NIKA2 (GASTON): Filament convergence and its link to star formation

In the past decade filaments have been recognised as a major structural element of interstellar medium, densest these hosting formation most stars. some star-forming molecular clouds converging networks filaments, also known hub filament systems, can be found. These hubs are believed to preferentially associated massive star formation. As today, there no metrics that allow systematic quantification network convergence. Here, we used IRAM 30m NIKA2 observations Galactic plane from GASTON large programme systematically identify and produce convergence parameter map. We use such map show that: i. represent small fraction global population; ii. host, in proportion, more luminous compact sources non-hubs; iii. hub-hosting clumps evolved iv. discontinuities observed properties function parameter. propose rapid collapse is responsible for (re)organising into and, parallel, enhancing mass growth sources.
